EGU General Assembly 2010 - Vienna

As announced, the European Geosciences Union General Assembly 2010 will be held in Vienna, Austria, 02-07 May.

In view of the congress, we would like to draw your attention to session NH3.10 - an integrated part of the section Natural Hazards - entitled:
Hydrological, hydraulic and mechanical effects of plants for slope stability

Related to this session, we want to encourage you submitting an abstract as you or one of your students, might have interesting (scientific) results and information worthwhile to be presented at this conference. Please, find below further information of the session.

AWARD TO YOUNG SCIENTISTS: The “Jan De Ploey Prize 2010”

In 1993 the Jan De Ploey Prize was established to further research in the field of process geomorphology.
This international prize is awarded regularly by the geography section of K.U.Leuven to a young scientist (under the age of 35 years) who has made a significant contribution to research in the field of geomorphological processes. Previous prize winners were Dr. R. Allison (University of Durham, U.K.), Dr.Y. Le Bissonnais (INRA, Orleans, France), Dr. Stuart Lane (University of Leeds, U.K.), Dr. Arjun Heimsath (Dartmouth College, Hannover, NH, USA) and Dr. Oliver Korup (ETH, Davos, Switzerland). This Prize will be awarded for the sixth time in 2010.

The prize winner is expected to deliver a memorial lecture at the department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, K.U.Leuven, Belgium. The prize will pay the expenses of the visit to Leuven and the residual sum may be sued to support attendance at an appropriate international conference.
Nominations should consist of a brief statement and any supporting materials (C.V., list of publications), including a copy of one significant publication.
